Luna<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"sub-title\">R\u00e9sum\u00e9<\/h2>\n<hr \/>\n<p>One of the goals of the Mande Studies journal is to operate as a key crossroads or<br \/>\nintersection for Anglophone and Francophone scholarship on West Africa, two<br \/>\nworlds that sometimes co-exist as ships passing in the night. Building on this<br \/>\ngoal, this special feature offers French versions of work originally published in<br \/>\nEnglish that reflect thinking and concepts from the Anglo-American academy<br \/>\non critical agrarian studies.<br \/>\nThe first article of this special feature,\u201cLa colonisation intellectuelle de<br \/>\nl\u2019agriculture ouest-africaine et la perspective d\u2019un avenir plus d\u00e9colonial :<br \/>\nl\u2019exp\u00e9rience agro\u00e9cologique au Mali\u201d [The intellectual colonization of<br \/>\nWest African agriculture and the prospect of a more decolonial future: the<br \/>\nagroecological experience in Mali] draws heavily from two chapters of Moseley\u2019s<br \/>\n2024 book, Decolonizing African Agriculture: Food Security, Agroecology and the Need<br \/>\nfor Radical Transformation. The article\u2019s conclusions capitalize on some 30 years<br \/>\nof research conducted by geographer William Moseley in Mali and reflect<br \/>\na growing concern among critical development scholars that conventional<br \/>\napproaches to agricultural development are inherently Eurocentric and do not<br \/>\nhelp African countries address growing food insecurity. The article benefited<br \/>\nfrom comments received by the author at the Conference on Mande Studies in<br \/>\nBamako in 2024.<br \/>\nGabin Korb\u00e9ogo and Jessie Luna wrote the second article of this<br \/>\nspecial feature. They met in 2016, when Dr. Luna was hosted by Joseph<br \/>\nKi-Zerbo University\u2019s Local Initiatives Research Group for her doctoral<br \/>\nresearch on the cotton sector in Burkina Faso.
